      The Korean Cultural Centre India hosted the 4th New Delhi Korean Film Festival and a special photo exhibition titled “Korea, In the Shadows of Pain, The Light of Dreams” simultaneously from 14 to 16 August 2025, to mark the 80th Anniversary of Korean Liberation. The events were organised to commemorate both 80th Anniversary of Korean Liberation Day and Independence Day of India – celebrated on 15 August, and aimed to reaffirm the shared values of freedom and human dignity between the two countries through the medium of culture and art. The events highlighted Korea’s history and culture through films and photographs, while underscoring the enduring friendship between Korea and India. ▲︎ Visitors experience key moments of Korea’s history at the interactive Polaroid photo zone inside the exhibition. ▲︎ Visitors discuss the meanings within the works, sharing the messages conveyed by the artists. ▲︎ Visitors view the interactive displays, exchanging their reflections. ▲︎ Visitors contemplate the works capturing Korea’s past, immersed in deep appreciation. ▲︎ Visitors explore the interactive displays, reflecting on Korea’s modern history. ▲︎ Opening film ‘Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet’ (2016) portrayed the life and resistance of poet Yun Dong-ju. ▲︎ Actress Moon Choi interacted with the Indian film viewers in an online ‘Cine Talk’ and spoke about the significance of Yun Dong-ju and expressed her interest in Indian cinema. ▲︎ Audiences enjoyed watching the films and reflected on the shared history of Korea and India. ▲︎ Audiences experienced the face-painting activity featuring the two nations’ flags. ▲︎ Audiences shared their thoughts on the comment wall celebrating Korea–India friendship. ▲︎ A group photo of the audience was taken after the film screenings and activities.

    Performances & Events 2025 All-India K-Pop Contest: A Heartfelt Chorus from India to K-Pop

    The Grand Final of All-India K-pop Contest 2025, India's biggest live celebration of Korean pop culture, was organised by The Korean Cultural Centre India in New Delhi on July 19. True to its tagline, “One Beat, One India, Over a Decade of K-Pop”, the All India K-pop Contest has played a pioneering role in spreading Hallyu (the Korean Wave) across India over the past 15 years. Now in its 15th edition, the event has unearthed exceptional talent over the years and featured high-energy performances by K-Pop enthusiasts from across the country. \ ▲︎ Indian audiences queued up outside the venue to see the K-pop contest. ▲︎ At the beauty booth inside the venue, Indian audiences experienced Korean cosmetic products. ▲︎ Delhi-based K-pop group, ‘3plus4crew’ was awarded the top prize in the dance category after a scintillating performance to ‘Super’ by Seventeen. ▲︎ In the vocal category, Shylee Preetam from Hyderabad, was announced as the winner after her soulful performance on ‘U & I’ by Ailee. ▲︎ In the inaugural ‘rap’ category competition that was introduced this year, Riniya Taku from Itanagar was adjudicated as the winner after performing to ‘Backpacker’ by Zerobaseone. ▲︎ Indian K-pop lovers were over the moon as NOMAD performed to their blockbuster titles such as ‘No Pressure’, ‘California Love’, ‘Compare’ and ‘Carnival’. ▲︎ In a special ‘Fan Meeting’ session, the five members of NOMAD – Sangha, Doy, One, Rivr, and Junho – also interacted with their Indian fans and tried their hand at learning some Hindi greetings. ▲︎ A celebratory moment as the winners and judges gathered on stage for a group photograph.

    Curated to mark the 80th anniversary of Korean liberation Day, Korean Cultural Centre India is holding a special photo exhibition “Korea, In the Shadows of Pain, The Light of Dreams”. The exhibition showcases the contemporary history of Korea through the lens of three renowned photographers— Koo Wangsam, Cho Kyusun, and Baek Jongha. Through their distinct perspectives, the works explore themes of liberation, ideological conflict, growth of independent culture and art, and the turbulent journey toward democracy. Date: 14 August – 31 October 2025 Venue: Exhibition Hall, Korean Cultural Centre India Programme ▶ The first gallery –  Koo Wangsam : realistic works, capturing the spatial and temporal realities of post-liberation Korea. ▶ The second gallery  – Baek Jongha : warm depictions of rural landscapes, delicately portraying the lyricism of nature. ▶ The third gallery –  Cho Kyusun : renowned Dancing Egret series- the graceful form of the egret as a metaphor for the tensions and societal changes during Korea’s modernisation. ▶ Interactive experience zone – A large map of the Korean Peninsula installed on the floor will be overlaid with Polaroid photographs taken by foreign journalists after Korea’s liberation, allowing visitors to walk across the map, revisit key historical moments by region, and immerse in the sights and atmosphere of that era. ▶ Interactive experience zone - Slide film exhibition wooden box on the theme of “The Silent School, Running Children” ▶ Interactive experience zone - A wooden box containing the life stories of three photographers

    As part of the “Taekwondo: Meeting the World” exhibition, the Korean Cultural Centre India (KCCI) hosted a special outreach programme by inviting students from local schools to the exhibition space on July 8, 22, and 30, 2025. The programme included a guided tour and a Korean lacquerware (najeonchilgi) workshop, aimed at fostering interest and understanding of Taekwondo A total of approximately 120 students and 6 teachers participated from three schools: Mount Abu Public School (42 students), Ganga International School (33 students), and Bal Bharti Public School (45 students). During the exhibition tour, students explored key displays showcasing the history, values, and philosophy of Taekwondo, and engaged in lively discussions with their peers. The experience encouraged deeper reflection on Taekwondo as a cultural art form, beyond its image as a sport. Following the tour, students took part in a hands-on ‘najeonchilgi’ workshop. Through the activity, students expressed keen interest in Korean traditional crafts and immersed themselves in the delicate process of mother-of-pearl inlay. ▲ Students gather in the exhibition hall and listen attentively to the curatorial explanation on the history and philosophy of Taekwondo, learning about its development over time.   ▲ Students express curiosity as they observe Taekwondo uniforms exhibited in a glass showcase.   ▲ Students explore the exhibition freely and engage in discussion with their peers about the artifacts on display.   ▲ Students listen carefully to instructions on how Korean lacquerware is made as they prepare for the hands-on activity. ▲ A student, speaking into a microphone, shares his thoughts — saying they learned more about Taekwondo and enjoyed the craft session. ▲ Students delicately create Taekwondo-themed lacquerware keyrings, experiencing the beauty of traditional Korean craftsmanship. ▲ After the activity, students proudly pose for a group photo with their handmade lacquerware keyrings.

    The Korean Cultural Centre India held the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Taekwondo: Facing the World” on June 2. The exhibition, centered on artifacts from the National Taekwondo Museum, was designed to shed light on the modern history and internationalization of Taekwondo. ▲ Prior to the official opening, a VIP reception was held where Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India, H.E. Lee Seong-ho, engaged in conversations with distinguished guests. ▲ Following the traditional diya lighting ceremony that officially opened the exhibition, the Ambassador and his spouse posed for a commemorative group photo with VIP guests. ▲ In his congratulatory remarks, Ambassador H.E Lee Seong-ho highlighted the significance of the exhibition in promoting the values and spirit of Taekwondo — such as discipline, patience, and self-control. He added, “I’m truly pleased to witness the growing enthusiasm for Taekwondo among Indian youth.” ▲ Sudhanshu Mittal, President of the Kho Kho Federation of India and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), remarked, “Every young person wants to own a Taekwondo belt — the symbol of the sport. This exhibition was truly impressive and offered a great learning opportunity on how Taekwondo has spread and gained popularity around the world.” ▲ Namdev Shirgaonkar, President of the India Taekwondo, expressed gratitude for continued collaboration with the Korean Cultural Centre India, adding, “Our joint efforts over the years have played a vital role in expanding Taekwondo across India and strengthening Korea–India cultural exchange.”  ▲ Following the opening remarks, a VIP guided tour curation was held, during which VIP guests listened to the significance and symbolism behind each exhibit. ▲ After the exhibition curation, the Korean traditional percussion group Haeorum performed on stage at the Cultural Centre auditorium, blending Korean rhythms with popular Indian songs like 'Shubhram'. ▲  The professional Korean Taekwondo performance team, Taekwoncrea then showcased a dynamic fusion performance combining breaking techniques and dance. ▲ Indian audiences enjoyed the performances with great enthusiasm and appreciation.

    TalkTalk Korea 2024 Award-Winning Works Korean Cultural Centre India will host an exhibition of the award-winning works of “Talk Talk Korea 2024,” the world’s largest content contest titled “Talk Talk Korea, Embracing Global Emotion” at the Cultural Centre Gallery from March 20, 2025 to May 30, 2025. The 'Talk Talk Korea' contest, which celebrated its 11th anniversary in 2024, was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, was the world's largest content contest with 60,000 participants from 140 countries around the world. The contest is divided into five categories: Promotional Video (videos expressing special skills such as Korean music, dance, and musical instruments), Art & Craft (works such as paintings, webtoons, sculptures, and calligraphy), Motion Graphics (2D and 3D animation, motion graphic technology videos), Photography (photos set in Korea), and Meme & Trend (short-form videos such as memes and challenges). A total of 49 award-winning works across the five categories will be showcased at the Centre’s gallery, presented through immersive installations and three-dimensional structures. Among the winners of five categories around the world, the works of Indian winners Gahir Suchismita (1st place in the Meme & Trend category) and Bandgee Kallra (3rd place in the Photobook category) will be exhibited separately in a special space, so we ask for your interest and visit.
