Korean Cultural Centre India will be organising the 3rd New Delhi Korean Film Festival from November 28-30 at the cultural centre’s main auditorium. The New Delhi Korean Film Festival, now in its third year, is the only Korean film festival in Delhi NCR that caters to the diverse tastes of local audiences through active engagement and meaningful dialogue.

The 2024 edition of the film festival is a three-day cinematic extravaganza, showcasing four critically acclaimed Korean films: Our Season (2023), Minari (2020), Confidential Assignment 2: International (2022), and Exhuma (2024).

On the first day of the film festival, i.e. 28th November, just before the opening ceremony, there will be a reception event where audiences will be invited to enjoy Korean delicacies that have featured in the opening film - Our Season (2023). The Korean snacks to enjoy include vegetable kimchi, Korean vegetable dumplings (Korean Mandu), and makgeolli (a traditional Korean drink).

The Opening Ceremony of the film festival will be graced by Yook Sang Hyo, a prominent Korean film director, who will go on to present his latest film, which is also the opening film of the event, Our Season. Yook Sang Hyo has won the ‘Best Screenplay’ award at major Korean film festivals such as the Baeksang Arts Awards and the Blue Dragon Film Awards. After the screening of Our Season, the director will take part in the ‘Cine Talk’ session where he will engage in conversation with the audience about the film.

The New Delhi Korean Film Festival has been carefully curated based on an online survey conducted among the residents of the city, and was based on consideration of films that could best convey Korean sentiments. Through Korean films that convey emotions beyond words, the Korean Cultural Centre India aims to create a bridge for Indian audiences to better understand Korea, fostering deeper cultural connection and mutual appreciation.

Hwang Il Yong, Director of Korean Cultural Centre India said, “As interest and taste in Korean culture in India grows and becomes more specialised, we are trying to plan and develop customised content and related events for the people in India. We will continue to make efforts to form a discourse on Korean films so that they can be understood and enjoyed more deeply, and to create a platform where people can enjoy Korean films as comfortably as they enjoy K-pop and K-dramas.”
