-Presentation: Kun-Woo Paik was born in
Seoul and went to Julliard School of Music to study with Rosina Lhévinne at the
age of 15. After which he went to London to study with Ilona Cabos in 1967 and won
the Naumburg International Piano Competition the same year. Kun-Woo Paik who won
gold medal at the world-renowned Busoni International Piano Competition and won
at the final of the Leventrill Concours in 1969, later gained more popularity
across the world by collaborating with world-renowned orchestras.
With
a wide repertoire ranging from Bach to Stockhausen, Busoni to Scriabin, and
Liszt to Messiaen, Kun-Woo Paik was awarded the Diapason d’or in 1992. He was awarded
the Diapason d’or again, along with three major classical music awards in
France in 1993.
Currently
he is living in Paris, devoted to his performances. He received the Chevalier
de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French government in 2000 and is
still actively performing across the world.
