Korean pop stage in India is going to be hotter than Indian summer

K-pop cover contest’s Online Round opens on 16th April

 

 

New Delhi, 2018: Korean songs are heating upIndian summer. Korean Cultural Centre India announces the start of 2018 Changwon K-pop world festival India Round, which begins on 16th April 11:00am with Online audition. All Indian K-pop lovers can register with their performance videos at www.kpopindia.com till 14th May, 11:59am.

The contest with two categories, Vocal and Dance, will take place in 10 regions across India as the selected contestants of online round will participate in India’s regional rounds in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Patna, Bengaluru, Odisha, Hyderabad, Mizoram and Manipur from 16th to 23rd June. The winners of each regional round will compete again in the Grand Finale to be held on 10th  July in New Delhi, the last stage in India for 2018 Changwon K-pop World Festival.

 

The unique festival organized by South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) is a world-wide event for K-pop fans with a fierce competition in the biggest scale. The preliminary rounds held in around 70 countries single out a representative for the final stage in Changwon, South Korea. India has produced two stars from the competition, vocalist ‘Priyanka Mazumdar’ who won 3rd Prize in the 2016 edition, and dance team ‘Immortals Army’ who won 2nd Prize in 2017 edition at the world stage, representing the mesmerizing talents of Indian youth.

Mr. Kim Kum-pyoung, Director of Korean Cultural Centre India, said “It was a great achievement compared to the insignificant presence of K-pop and K-wave in India”. He wishes that the 7th edition of the India Round witnesses more enthusiastic talents and fans for K-pop.

 

The competition in India started in 2012, has rapidly grown over the years, reaching out to its biggest scale ever last year with 898 contestants and 424 teams, which doubled after 2016.
